Moroccan Bath in Al Jaddaf
The Moroccan Bath — Al Hammam Al Maghribi — is one of the world's great cleansing rituals, practiced across North Africa and the Middle East for centuries as both a hygienic tradition and a deeply communal act of self-care. At Joints Spa in Al Jaddaf, Dubai, we bring the authentic hammam experience to you: from the preparation of the skin with savon beldi (Moroccan black soap) and steam, through the vigorous exfoliation with the traditional kessa glove, to the purifying application of ghassoul volcanic clay and the final silky rinse. You emerge with skin that feels completely reborn.
Step 1 — Steam and Preparation: The session begins with steam application to open the pores and soften the outer layer of dead skin cells, preparing the body for deep cleansing.
Step 2 — Savon Beldi (Black Soap): Authentic Moroccan black soap made from olive oil is applied to the entire body and left to penetrate for several minutes, dissolving impurities at the pore level and softening the skin for exfoliation.
Step 3 — Kessa Exfoliation: The therapist uses the traditional kessa woven glove to exfoliate the entire body in firm rhythmic strokes, removing the loosened dead skin and dramatically stimulating blood circulation.
Step 4 — Ghassoul Clay Mask: Volcanic rhassoul clay from the Atlas Mountains mixed with rose water is applied to the body and hair, drawing remaining impurities from the pores and leaving a silky mineral-rich finish before the final rinse.
Why It Works
The kessa exfoliation removes the outermost layer of dead skin cells more completely than any other method — leaving skin visibly smoother, brighter, and more even-toned after a single session.
The combination of steam, black soap, and ghassoul clay achieves a level of pore cleansing impossible with daily skincare alone, reducing blackheads and congestion over time.
The vigorous exfoliation and warmth dramatically stimulate peripheral blood circulation — you will feel the warmth in your skin for hours after the session.
Regular hammam significantly reduces the incidence of ingrown hairs and folliculitis, making it an excellent complement to hair removal treatments.
The heat and massage strokes applied during the ritual relax the musculature and lubricate the joints — many clients report significant relief from joint stiffness after a hammam.
In North Africa and the Middle East, the hammam is as much a cultural tradition as a beauty treatment. Experience it in the heart of Al Jaddaf, Dubai.

Common Questions
Expect warmth, steam, the olive-rich scent of black soap, vigorous exfoliation, and a silky clay mask. Many clients are surprised by how much dead skin is revealed — this is entirely normal and a sign the ritual is working effectively.
A full Moroccan bath ritual takes 60 to 90 minutes. We recommend 90 minutes for a first-time experience to allow full completion of all four ritual steps without rushing.
Once a month is ideal for skin renewal maintenance. Between sessions, regular exfoliation one to two times per week at home prolongs the results.
Yes — and we highly recommend it. The hammam opens the pores, relaxes the muscles, and prepares the body beautifully for a massage. Ask about our combined packages when booking.
